High School Basketball Plus Stars Take Down Florida

 

Area high school basketball teams continue their journey to the post-season.
Paris –  The Roxton Lions take down Sulphur Bluff yesterday evening, 54-41. The Paris Wildcats pull away in the second-half to beat Liberty Eylau, 78-57 and improve to 3-1 in district play. North Lamar drops to 2-2 after a 54-49 loss at the hands of Pleasant Grove. The Chisum Mustangs notch their first district victory after crushing Como-Pickton, 48-26, while the Prairiland Patriots drop to 3-5 after falling to the Chapel Hill Red Devils, 57-37.
Mount Pleasant – The Chapel Hill Red Devils return to their winning ways last night after beating Prairiland, 57-37 and move to 5-2 in district play. The Mt Pleasant Tigers dominate Hallsville from the opening tip to the final whistle, 62-41, improving to 6-1. The Mt Vernon Tigers handle Cooper, 71-43 and remain unbeaten, while the girls improve to 7-2 in a 66-32 victory.
Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats stay perfect on the district season with the Lady Cats improving to 9-0 following a 59-28 win over the Pine Tree Lady Pirates. The boys grab a convincing road victory over Pine Tree as well, 62-41, improving to 7-0. The Mt Vernon Tigers handle Cooper, 71-43 and remain unbeaten, while the girls improve to 7-2 in a 66-32 victory. Miller Grove escapes Fannindel, 68-62.
The Dallas Stars continue their stellar play with a win over Florida, 6-1. Alexander Radulov collected three points for the Stars, including a pair of goals in the second and third period. Dallas now has 60 points on the season and are three points back of the Central Division-Leading Nashville Predators.
The Dallas Mavericks return to the court tonight to take on the Houston Rockets at the American Airline Center. Dallas is a lowly 16-31 on the season. Houston is 33-12. Tip-off is at 7:00 pm.
In college hoops, the Big 12 continues to entertain as the 12th ranked Oklahoma Sooners take down the fifth-ranked Kansas Jayhawks. Sooner guard, Trea Young dropped in 26 points and dealt out nine assists. Fifteenth-ranked Texas Tech overcomes a big deficit to beat Oklahoma State, 75-70.
And as has been expected, the Dallas Cowboys fill an assistant coaching vacancy by naming Kellen Moore as the team’s new Quarterback Coach.
