High School Hoops Plus Rangers Pitchers And Catchers Today

Girls high school basketball playoffs continue tonight with the area round.
Paris – The Rivercrest Lady Rebels, Honey Grove Lady Warriors, and Clarksville Lady Tigers will all be in action this evening. Clarksville and Rivercrest will play a doubleheader at Mt Vernon as the Lady Tigers take on Martins Mill at 6:00 pm while the Lady Rebels face Campbell at 8:00. Honey Grove will be up against Hawkins at Emory Rains high school with tip-off at 6:30. The PJC Dragon basketball team gets back on track with a big win over Navarro College in overtime, 75-73.
Mount Pleasant – The Chapel Hill Lady Devils will be up against Harmony this evening on STAR 96.9. The game will be played at Ore City high school with tip-off scheduled for 6:30. The Mt Vernon Lady Tigers take on Winona at Emory Rains high school. The game will be carried on K-Lake 97.7. Mt Vernon vs. Winona is also scheduled for 6:30 pm. The Saltillo Lady Lions will take to the court tomorrow night as they match up with Ector at Chisum high school in Paris. Tip-off is at 7:30.
Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats continue their postseason invasion of DFW as they prepare to take on Frisco Lone Star. The game will be played this evening at Rockwall High at 7:00 pm. The Mt Vernon Lady Tigers face Winona at Emory Rains beginning at 6:30 on K-Lake 97.7. Miller Grove is up against Dodd City at Chisum high school in Paris at 6:00 followed by Saltillo and Ector at 7:30.  And the Campbell Lady Indians will be up against the Rivercrest Lady Rebels at Mt Vernon with tip-off set for 8:00 pm.
College hoops continues it’s hectic ways, this time out of the Big East as Providence upsets No. 3 Villanova last night, 76-71.  It’s only the third loss of the season for ‘Nova. All three losses have come in Big East Conference play.
NBA All-Star weekend is approaching. Although he’s not an all-star selection, the Mavs will be represented by rookie guard Dennis Smith tomorrow night in the Rising Stars Challenge as well as the Slam Dunk contest on Saturday.
Pitcher and catchers report for the Texas Rangers today. The headlines feature the Rangers new-look rotation, with names such as Matt Moore, Doug Fister, and Bartolo Colon looking make an impact while fireballer, Matt Bush, looks to make a case as a starter as well.
The PyeongChang Winter Olympics Medal Counter shows Norway surging ahead with 16 total, while Germany continues to rack up the gold with eight. Team USA has five gold medals after Mikaela Shiffrin wins the Women’s Giant Slalom, tied for the second most gold medals with Norway and the Netherlands.
