LeTourneau University head volleyball coach Scott Peluso has announced the addition of two more players for 2016 including Audrey Galindo of Humble and Mikayla Thomas from Kilgore.

Galindo, a 5-5 libero/defensive specialist, has been a significant contributor at Atascocita High School. Galindo also played for the Texas Thunder Volleyball Club team. At LeTourneau, she plans on majoring in nursing.

The Coach’s Take: “Audrey is going to be a great addition to our back row. She plays with great control and anticipation. Her ball control and all out defense are going to fit in perfectly with our style of play. Her skill set is very similar to our other two Defensive Specialists so having the three of them push each other is going to be great for our program. She will help us continue improving our ball control and the ability to run our offense and transition game. She is also a perfect fit for LETU. She has high character and is focused academically. God continues to provide high-quality student-athletes to our program.”

Thomas, a 5-11 setter/right side has been a three-sport, four-year letter winner at nearby Kilgore High School. In volleyball, she recorded 219 kills, 344 digs, 69 aces, 957 assists and 72 blocks en route to being named all-district as a junior and as a senior. Thomas was named academic all-state as a senior in volleyball. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and graduated with Academic Honors. Thomas also played for the Wrecking Crew Volleyball Club. At LeTourneau, she plans on majoring in biology.

The Coach’s Take: “Mikayla is an exceptional athlete. I feel that she is going to add athleticism to our roster, and I am excited to see what role she fits into best once we get started in August since she has such great versatility. She had played almost every position so that she could fit into our system in a couple of different ways. Getting a player like Mikayla is a huge add for us since we can plug her into several different roles depending on our needs. She is a great fit for our program in many ways other than her abilities as an athlete. She is an excellent student and has very high character. She is going to be a great fit for our volleyball program and the university.”
