Man Shot By Gladewater Officer Identified

The man shot by a Gladewater Police Officer late Sunday afternoon has been identified as 29-year-old Matthew Blaine Murchison, of Gilmer. He had allegedly threatened suicide and had made threatening gestures to the officer. Officer Jacobo Lira has been placed on administrative leave with pay, and Texas Rangers are investigating. Murchison was shot in the leg and his wound was described as non-life threatening.
