SUMMER LEAGUE

It was a hot and crazy weekend in Mount Pleasant as the Titus County squad won the title over Sulphur Springs 12-2 Sunday afternoon in the 12U Division. The two-day tournament featured a no-hitter by Sulphur Springs pitcher Levi Smith in the opening game, but he was the losing pitcher as the defense committed a pair of errors as they lost to Paris 1-0. The right-handed pitcher retired the first 14 batters to begin the contest. Mount Pleasant erased an 8-2 deficit while down to their final out and won it in extra innings, 9-8, over Paris. Both Sulphur Springs and Mount Pleasant advance to the North Zone Regional Tournament in Mount Vernon, July 2 through the 4th.
