Ten North Lamar High School students will compete at the East Texas Regional Science Fair on March 2 at Kilgore College after being named finalists at the NLHS Science Fair on February 5.
Ninety-one students competed in either the Biological or Physical category in the high school science fair. The named finalists along with the title of their projects, beginning front row left, are Madison Routon – ‘How Does Plant Filtration Affect Our Water?’, Ashley Trenchard – ‘Water Purity’, and Keeley Mahon – ‘Visual vs Auditory’. In back are Cody Ausmus – ‘Meat vs Bacteria’; Matthew Vukcevich – ‘Electrolyte Challenge’; Elleigh Rutz – ‘Tesla Coil’; Emma Fowler – ‘1<3 Electrolytes’; William Culbertson – ‘Which Brand of Toilet Paper is the Strongest?’; and Josh Fulton – ‘A New Antibiotic from Spider Venom: Antimicrobial Effect of Venom from Hogna carolinensis, the Carolina Wolf Spider, and Pioneering Advances in the Collection of Spider Venom’.
