Four juniors from North Lamar High School have been chosen to participate in the RYLA program. Alec Asay, Will Rast, Maggie Stewart, and Kylie Jackson were nominated by their teachers then interviewed by the RYLA committee made up of local Rotary members.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an international program that was created by Rotary International to encourage strong leadership in youth. High school juniors are selected based on their leadership skills and potential in their schools and/or communities. Students chose to attend RYLA camp where they work within teams to complete a variety of challenges that push them to think outside the box, stretch their imaginations, grown as individuals and a team, and recognize their own leadership abilities. The eight leadership traits RYLA focus on are Integrity, Communication, Planning, Decision Making, Trust, Teamwork, Problem Solving, and Self-Esteem.
