North Lamar and Sulphur Springs Girls Look to Advance Plus Rangers Win Big

Paris – Three teams remain in the high school baseball and softball playoffs. The Paris Wildcats begin a three game series tomorrow on 101.9 KBUS with game one at 7:30 from Mesquite’s Tillary Field. On Friday the North Lamar baseball and softball teams will be in action. The Panthers are in a one game playoff with Mabank at Sulphur Springs high school. The game will be live on KOYN 93.9 with first pitch at 6:30. The North Lamar softball team will play game one Friday evening on MIX 107.7. First pitch from the circle at NTCC in Mt. Pleasant is set for 6pm. Game two would follow.

Mount Pleasant – Area high school baseball and softball playoffs continue later in the week. STAR Country 96.9 will broadcast live from Pine Tree high school where the Hughes Springs Lady Mustangs will take on the Redwater Lady Dragons in the regional quarterfinal round. Game one on Star will be heard tomorrow evening at 7pm. Game two will be the same time on Friday and game three, if necessary, will be 2pm on Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Hughes Springs baseball team will take on Farmersville. The Chapel Hill Red Devils face Edgewood and the Pittsburg Pirates will take on the Canton Eagles in the Area round.

Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Lady Cat softball team will continue their post season journey coming up this weekend. The Lady Cats will take on Mansfield Legacy in the regional quarterfinal round. Details are still in the works. Meanwhile, Sulphur Springs high school will be hosting an area round playoff baseball game Friday evening when the North Lamar Panthers take on Mabank. First pitch will be at 6:30. And the North Hopkins baseball team will be in action in the area round with a best of three series against Harleton starting with games one and two on Friday at 5 in Mineola. Game three, if necessary, will be at the same location on Saturday at noon.

Last night the Texas Rangers win what could easily be described at the wildest game of the season 13-11 over the Chicago White Sox. Trailing 11-6 the Rangers put up seven runs in the 8th inning. Ryan Rua put the finishing touches on the night for Texas with a three-run homer. The Rangers are now 19-15 on the season and play the rubber match against the Chi-Sox this afternoon on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm. First pitch is at 1:05pm Central time.

In the NBA playoffs the OKC Thunder put the San Antonio Spurs on the brink of elimination after last night’s 95-91 victory gave the Thunder a 3-2 series lead.

And tonight the Dallas Stars will either advance to the Western Conference Finals, or they’ll be sent packing when they play the St. Louis Blues in tonight’s decisive game seven. Puck drop this evening is at 7pm.
