Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Sale In Sulphur Springs

Producers sold 4,882 head of pre-conditioned cattle at the January Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization (NETBIO) sale held Friday at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Commission.

A total of 248 NETBIO producers/members consigned cattle to the sale. Twenty-six buyers purchased the cattle at an average of $889.39 per head. Buyers viewing on the Internet purchased 1,302-head.

“The sale went very well, and the market was active,” said David Fowler, co-owner of the livestock commission. “The Internet was busy, and we had some new buyers both online and in-person at the market center.”

Fowler added that the cattle looked good, and they all held up very well through the cold weather, mainly because they were all pre-conditioned and in excellent health.

The next sale will be on Friday, February 18, at 1:00 pm at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Commission. NETBIO members can also get their cattle ready for the sale on Friday, March 18.

The NETBIO Pre-Conditioned Stocker and Feeder Calf Sale give producers a market to offer their pre-conditioned calves and yearlings in load lot quantities. NETBIO holds seven pre-conditioned calf sales per year, which is the marketing arm for members of the organization.
