One Upshur County man was killed and another arrested following an early Saturday morning wreck. The crash happened on Hwy 271 north of Gilmer. Upshur County authorities say 21 year old Riley McPherson, of Gilmer, died when his van struck the side of an 18 wheeler which was blocking the highway. Troopers say 26 year Eric Wayne Jefferson of Gilmer who was unhurt, was attempting to back the 18 wheeler into a private drive when it was struck by McPherson’s vehicle. Jefferson was charged with criminally negligent homicide.
