Paris Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 1900 block of E. Price Tuesday morning at 8:38 for not displaying a registration. The Ford Mustang accelerated and tried to evade the officer. The chase ended in the 600-block of NE 13th, where the driver, identified as Joshua Brett Galyon, 34, of Paris, was arrested and charged with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. Galyon also had an outstanding felony Probation Violation warrant from possession of a controlled substance charge. Officers transferred Galyon to the Lamar County Jail.

Xavier Ray Vasquez, 26, of Paris, was arrested at his residence in the 1700 block of E. Cherry on two warrants Tuesday afternoon at 2:51. One warrant charged Vasquez with burglary of a building, and the other with leaving the scene of an accident. During the arrest, officers observed methamphetamine and paraphernalia inside the residence. Additionally, Cheryl Lee Feny, 55, was arrested and charged with possessing a controlled substance of less than one gram. Police booked both and placed them in the Lamar County Jail.
At 4:14 Tuesday afternoon, Paris Police responded to a burglary of a building in the 2700 block of E. Cherry. The person renting the storage unit had several items someone had taken, including televisions, a washer, and a dryer. The unknown suspect entered the space by manipulating the locking mechanism. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded and met with a victim of a burglary of a vehicle that had occurred in the 700-block of Pecan Court. The victim reported that someone had stolen a pistol from a backpack-type bag that he had left in his vehicle overnight. The victim said he believed he had locked the car but was unsure. The incident is under investigation.
Paris Police responded to 78 calls for service and arrested eight people Tuesday (Jan 10).
