Rangers Continue Losing Ways Plus Big 12 Seeks Expansion

The tailspin continues for the Texas Rangers after falling to the LA Angels 8-6. Texas held a 3-0 lead halfway through the ballgame thanks to a pair of homers from Robinson Chirinos. But the Angels would score four in the forth inning and three in the fifth to take the lead for good. The Rangers drop to 55-40, but still hold a 4.5 game lead over the Houston Astros in the AL West. Texas will wrap up their series with the Angels tonight on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm. First pitch tonight is set for 9:05pm Central Time.

Yesterday the Big 12 Conference announced Bob Bowlsby has been authorized to seek expansion for the conference. Part of Bowlsby’s job is to contact schools to measure their interest in joining one of the NCAA’s premier power conferences over the next several days. They’re hoping to have a pair of schools lined up for discussion when the annual Big 12 board meeting in October. Several schools have taken it upon themselves to reach out to the power 5, including several current American conference teams such as the Houston Cougars, Memphis Tigers, and U Conn Huskies.

UFC was recently informed of a second failed drug test by Brock Lesner, according to the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency. The 39 year old fighter failed his first test on June 28th when unspecified banned substances showed up. Those same drugs appeared on a fight night drug test Lesner took prior to UFC 200. Though the substance hasn’t been identified by UFC, first reports say it was Clomiphene that appeared in the positive test. The same substance that resulted in the barring of Jon “Bones” Jones.

The countdown to Dallas Cowboys training camp continues. In eight days, the Cowboys will arrive in Oxnard, California. Camp will officially begin on July 30th.
