Rangers Take A’s Plus Injured Cowboys Return to Work

Paris – Area volleyball teams will be back in action today. In a Lamar County show down the Prairiland Lady Patriots host the Paris Lady Cats at Patriots Gym. Match time is at 6pm. The North Lamar Pantherette’s will visit Denison and the Chisum Lady Mustangs will be at Mt. Pleasant. The Detroit Lady Eagles, fresh off winning the Roxton Tournament this past weekend, will be on the road against DeKalb.

Mount Pleasant – Area volleyball teams will be back in action today. Fresh off winning the Redwater Tournament this past weekend, the Chapel Hill Lady Devils will hit the road to face off with New Boston. Match time is 6pm. The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers will host Mt. Vernon and Chisum at Willie Williams Gym. The Pittsburg Lady Pirates host Union Grove at 6:30. Paul Pewitt will be at Atlanta at 6:30 as well. And Daingerfield will be at Avery at 5:30.

Sulphur Springs – Area volleyball teams will be back in action today. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats will be on the road to visit John Tyler and Kilgore at John Tyler. The Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers will be at Mt. Pleasant to face the Lady Tigers and the Chisum Lady Mustangs. North Hopkins will host the Rivercrest Lady Rebels at 7pm this evening. Miller Grove is scheduled to host Trent at 6. And Cumby will host Blue Ridge at 5.

Last night the Texas Rangers take the first game against Oakland 5-2. Adrian Beltre had the big blast of the evening with a grand slam home run. The Rangers become the first team in the American League to win 70 ballgames this season and lead the AL West by five and a half games over Seattle. Texas and Oakland play game two tonight at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch [on kplt 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for 7:05. During last night’s game, Ranger outfielder, Shin Soo Choo suffered a fractured left forearm after being hit with a pitch last night and is expected to miss up to two months.

Several Dallas Cowboys players are set to return to practice after being sidelined with injuries. Linebacker Damien Wilson, and defensive linemen Benson Mayowa and rookie Maliek Collins passed physicals and return for their first action of training camp. Running back Ezekiel Elliott is expected to work his way back to being a full participant in practice as the week progresses following a hamstring pull two weeks ago.
