Volleyball play day was a success at North Lamar yesterday featuring NL, Paris, Chisum, Prairiland and Mt. Pleasant.
Today volleyball gets going for real as teams begin their season. Prairiland will host Pleasant Grove. North Lamar will host Sherman and Sulphur Springs. Paris will host Forney. The Lady Cats are under the direction of new head coach Ashley Green. Green took over this summer after Brittney Humphreys resigned. Chisum will host James Bowie.
The Dallas Cowboys cut tight end Rico Gathers during the second week of training camp in Oxnard, CA. He spent three seasons with the team before being waived on Monday. Gathers only had three catches last season for 45 yards.
Despite six quality innings from Jason Bahr Monday, the Riders fell 2–0 to Corpus Christi at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
Bahr notched his first quality start in Double-A, permitting just one run on five hits while striking out eight across six innings. His only run allowed came on a two-out home run in the second inning.
Fresh off being activated from the 7-day IL, Emerson Martinez tossed a scoreless inning of relief in his first action with the Riders since May 15.
