Sulphur Springs ISD Board Actions

  • The Board of Trustees approved numerous personnel changes at this week’s Sulphur Springs ISD Board meeting. There were 18 resignations and 15 new hires for the district. There were six changes to different positions.

    ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS/INFORMATION ITEMS

    A. Maintenance updates (Dan Froneberger)

     They presented pictures of newly installed portables at RJP. All the walkways and ramps are complete and installed at RJP and Bowie. Work is still ongoing on the restrooms and ceilings. They gave the Board the budget updates to show current standings are well within the approved budget.

     Soon, blacktop and concrete will begin for new parking areas.

     They have almost finished Carpet cleaning throughout the district. B. Secondary Campus Updates (Justin Cowart)

     They have cleaned the SSHS floors, so furniture is being moved back into classrooms.

     AAC and SSHS had a great turnout for summer school.

     Summer workouts are ongoing, with great turnouts of over 100 kids each day. Two-a-Days are about to start next month.

    C. Superintendent Report (Dr. Deana Steeber)

     High School placed 5th in the Lone Star Cup.

     There are continued efforts to work on staffing to meet the needs of

    students across the district.

     Work with TASB continues to determine that employee pay for each

    district position is where it should be.

     They will audit the Special Education department to resolve any

    needs or changes.

     The SSISD Education Foundation had a very successful golf tournament.

    A. Consider approval of the track resurfacing project by Symmetry Sports Construction for $452,500, not to exceed $500,000 (Dr. Deana Steeber)

    B. Consider approval of a partnership agreement with Communities in Schools for eight social workers for $227,500 for the 2023-2024 school year (Dr. Deana Steeber)

    C. Consider approval of $132,728.65 for Amplify K-5 Reading from Instructional Materials Allotment funds. (Dr. Deana Steeber)

    D. Consider approval of principal certification waiver for Rowena Johnson Primary School.
