North Texas Man Sentenced For Savagely Beating Puppy

A North Texas man arrested for beating his 11-week-old German shepherd puppy has been sentenced to five years in prison for animal cruelty. Deric Berquist, of Tarrant County, was seen savagely beating, punching, choking and slamming the puppy’s small body to the ground in multiple videos captured on his own home security system. Authorities say the puppy, named Nikki, survived.
