SFA Coach Colby Carthel

MLB

If you are going to lose, do an excellent job of it. Rookie starter Kyle Wright and the Braves gave up a postseason-record 11 runs in the first inning of a 15-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 3 of the NL Championship Series Wednesday night. Game 4 is tonight at 7:08, with Atlanta leading 2-1.

Houston stayed alive with a 4-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4. Game 5 is this afternoon at 4:07, with the Rays owning a 3-1 lead.

NFL

The NFL will begin PCR testing for COVID-19 on game days starting this week, use of masks in walkthroughs are now mandatory, and only play-callers will be permitted to wear face shields instead of masks on the sideline.

NCAA

In January, the NCAA will vote on a set of proposals for athletes to earn money from endorsements and sponsorships. The Division I Council on Wednesday approved that proposal that took shape in April. The council also approved a proposal that would permit all NCAA athletes to transfer one time without sitting out a season of competition.

SFA head football coach Colby Carthel announced Wednesday on his Twitter page that he has tested positive for COVID-19. He received a positive test on Tuesday during their most recent round of testing.

HIGH SCHOOL

The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to hand down decisions on student-athletes eligibility and issue penalties for UIL rule violations. The UIL denied a student-athlete from Daingerfield an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the district executive committee’s previous ruling.

The Mt Vernon vs. Bonham game Friday will start at 7:15 pm, and you can hear it on Star 95.9.
