Northeast Texas Community College Softball hit the road to Poteau, Oklahoma, to take on Carl Albert State College and came away with two wins on the day. NTCC would win game one 14-1 and game two by a score of 14-9. NTCC will travel to Lufkin on February 12 to face former conference opponent Angelina College’s doubleheader matchup. On Monday, softball had their season home opener against North Central Texas College and lost both games. NTCC Baseball kicked off Monday hosting Grayson College and ended the day with a split. The Eagles pick up action Friday and Saturday against Cowley Community College from Kansas with a doubleheader at 1:00 pm and a single on Saturday at Noon.
HIGH SCHOOL
The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to issue penalties for UIL rule violations. New Diana High School Head Boys Basketball Coach Colton Wager was issued a public reprimand, one-year probation, and will receive additional training.
Texas Sports Writers Association nominated team members based on coaches and media members from around the state. In 3A, Waskom offensive lineman Clay Fant, Harleton defensive lineman Taber Childs, and defensive backs Aeryn Hampton of Daingerfield and Jackson Richardson of Tatum earned first-team honors to highlight a large contingent of area players named.
