Trout Arrives At Bob Sandlin State Park

The trout have arrived this morning! This will be the first of our three annual stockings in our one-acre pond. The trout pond brings out anglers of all levels to enjoy catching and eating fresh trout. People do not need a fishing license to participate, and they are able to catch up to five trout a day in our pond. Entrance fees into the park still apply.

Our Annual First Hike on January 1 is a time to celebrate the new year with your friends and family in the outdoors. At 1:30 pm everyone will be meeting at the Trout pond trailhead to enjoy a moderate 1.5-mile trail. We suggest people dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes. Leashed dogs are welcome.

There will be a Night Hike on Saturday, January 19 at 6:30 pm. Bring your flashlight, and we’ll explore the nightlife of the forest. The park ranger will be at the Lakeview Loop trailhead to lead you through an easy-moderate .67-mile trail.

The 30th Annual Kids Fish day is on Saturday, January 26. Session I will be from 9:00 am – 12″00 pm & Session II will be from 1″00 pm – 4:00 pm. A prize will be awarded to each child participant. As always, children 12 & under are free, and adults will be required to pay the $4 entry fee. This is usually a BIG event where families and children get to fish with the Rangers, Game Wardens and Park Police.

Thank you for your help getting the word out to the public regarding our events. We do what we can to support our community by providing outdoor activities for families to enjoy. We hope to see! The park is where you’ll find everything better outside!
