Stephen Curry followed up his career-high 62 points a night earlier with another 30 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists to lead the suddenly clicking Golden State Warriors past the Sacramento Kings 137-106 Monday.

NCAA

The NCAA is giving Indiana an exclusive ticket to showcasing March Madness, and the basketball-crazed state can’t wait to take center stage this spring. The NCAA announced Monday that its showcase event, the Division I men’s basketball tournament, all 67 games of it, will be played entirely in or near Indianapolis. The hope is to limit the possibility that the coronavirus pandemic cancels the wildly popular and lucrative tournament for a second consecutive season.

After four years and 46 games with 43 starts as the starting quarterback for the University of Texas, Sam Ehlinger announced Sunday that he would forego his extra season of eligibility and declared for the NFL Draft. He did so on his Twitter page. The announcement comes after Ehlinger played his final game for the Longhorns in the Alamo Bowl. They sidelined Ehlinger at halftime because of a shoulder injury, but the Longhorns won the game against Colorado, 55-23.

HIGH SCHOOL

The University Interscholastic League has added two more East Texas coaches to their Top 100 coach list. Longview’s current coach John King and former Groveton Coach Scott Phillips were in their week nine reveal their season-long list. The Top 100 coaches list will commemorate the 100th year of high school football under Texas’s UIL. King has been the coach at Longview since 2004, where he has posted a 180-36 record. King coached the Lobos to the 2018 6A DII state championship. Phillips coached Groveton from 1985-89 and led the Indians to a 1989 state championship. Phillips also had stopped at High Island, Waxahachie, Plano East, and Odessa High. is the overall record being 234-73-3.

The Mt Pleasant Tigers will travel to Texarkana to take on the Texas High Tigers in their second district contest. It starts with the freshmen at 4:00 this afternoon, followed by the JV around 5:15, and the Varsity at 6:30. They are selling tickets at the gate, and there is a live stream with a YouTube address on our sports page.
