Watch for Road Work on FM 38 in Lamar County

PARIS – Texas Department of Transportation officials announced that a project to upgrade FM 38 in Lamar County would begin July 26.

Highway 19 Construction LLC was granted 304 working days, weather permitting, to complete this project valued at more than $1.7 million. The target completion date for this work is Winter 2022, officials said.

The project will extend along FM 38 in Lamar County, from US 82 near Brookston, Texas, to US 82 near Petty. Contractor crews will add safety end-treatments to existing drainage structures and upgrade existing bridge rail and metal beam guard fence along the roadway.

This work will require the use of temporary lane closures at times, officials said. The bridge rail upgrade at the West Fork of Sanders Creek will require a long-term closure that could last for up to two months. The contractor will deploy temporary traffic signals at each of these bridges while this work is underway and until completed.
