Execution Date Set For Former Telford Unit Killer

An execution of March 29 is the date set for a Northeast Texas man who killed a fellow inmate in Bowie County more than 20 years ago. Fifty-eight-year-old Anibal Canales has been on death row for over two decades for strangling another inmate in a Telford State Prison Unit cell. At the time of the murder, Canales was in prison, serving 15 years for Sexual Assault.
