  School officials have confirmed that a Marshall High School sophomore has drowned in an apartment swimming pool in Stephenville. Sixteen-year-old Ketrevion Carter was an offensive lineman for the Mavericks football team. Stephenville police said the drowning has been ruled accidental.

  A former Liberty County jailer has been arrested for allegedly stealing cash from inmates that they turned over during booking. Twenty-three-year old Mayra Gallegos-Balderas was arrested for theft of property and freed on a personal recognizance bond. The jail is privately operated by the GEO Group.
