A grand jury indicted a Cherokee County Constable on an assault charge stemming from an incident that occurred back in 2021. They accused Precinct 4 Constable James Beene of hitting another man with his vehicle, causing severe bodily injury. They charged Beene with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. Beene was booked into the Rusk County Jail but released on a $25,000 bond.
