The Cowboys did their part Sunday to try and win the NFC East as they defeated the Washington Redskins 47-16. Dak Prescott threw four touchdown passes in the win. Ezekiel Elliott scored twice. Once on the ground and once in the air. Elliott had 122 yards rushing to finish with 1,357. It will be the first time the two-time rushing champion has played a full season without leading the NFL in rushing.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles took care of the New York Giants 34-17 meaning they won the NFC East and are headed to the playoffs. We now wait to see if Jason Garrett will be back as Cowboys head coach.
At the Paris Holiday Basketball Tournament, the Wildcats took second place after losing the championship game to Hot Springs. Marshall defeated Clarksville in the consolation game. North Lamar lost the consolation game in the gold bracket. Rivercrest took first in the silver bracket while Detroit took the consolation in the silver bracket.
The Chisum Lady Mustangs took first place at the Ector tournament. The Prairiland Lady Patriots took fourth place at the Leonard tournament.
In non-tournament action, the Prairiland Patriots defeated Honey Grove 61-51 on Saturday afternoon.
Today the North Lamar Pantherettes visit Honey Grove.
The Dallas Stars won back-to-back games this weekend defeating Colorado at home and then Phoenix on the road. The Stars will now get ready for the Winter Classic at the Cotton Bowl.
And the Mavericks lost to the Lakers Sunday night 108-95. Dallas will play in Oklahoma City on New Year’s Eve.
