Former East Texas Church Employee Guilty of Embezzlement

An East Texas woman has pleaded guilty to stealing money from a church where she was once the Children’s Pastor. A Van Zandt County Grand Jury indicted Donna Corry Drake of Canton for theft of more than $30,000 but less than $150,000 from Lakeside Baptist Church. Drake was sentenced to deferred adjudication with five years of community supervision and ordered to pay $137,386.35 in restitution. If Drake violates her probation, they will sentence her to between two and 20 years in prison.
