Second-ranked Baylor tries to move to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the league when the Bears visit No. 15 Texas Tech (10-3, 3-2) on Saturday. The Bears were supposed to play No. 13 West Virginia on Tuesday night, but COVID-19 issues within the Mountaineers program forced the game’s postponement. That was the eighth time coach Scott Drew’s team has had a game canceled or postponed this season. Baylor’s game against the Red Raiders, who had a tough matchup with fourth-ranked Texas on Wednesday night, will be followed by a No. 6 Kansas showdown on Monday night.

The No. 17 Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team rolled to a decisive division-opening victory over the Cameron Aggies on Thursday evening, 89-71. The Lions are now 5-1, 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference, and Cameron falls to 3-3, 3-3. There will be a rematch between the Lions and Aggies on Saturday. This time the showdown will take place at the Field House in Commerce.

Thursday, Texas A&M University-Commerce announced they are represented by 170 student-athletes on the Fall 2020 Lone Star Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL

The Tigers wrap up the first round of district play hosting Hallsville on Friday night. The freshmen tip at 5:00 pm, followed by the JV at 6:15, and the Varsity at 7:30. The team also honors Mt Pleasant’s teachers with a complimentary meal from Tiger Basketball supporter Randy’s! Mt Pleasant girls’ soccer hosts Pleasant Grove at 5:00 and 6:30, instead of Chapel Hill Tyler.

Sulphur Springs basketball takes on Texas High tonight. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats Soccer Team tied the Sherman Lady Bearcats at the Princeton tournament Thursday, while the guys defeated Princeton, 3-1, at the Wylie Men’s Soccer Showcase. The Wildcats are now 3-2-1 for the season.
