High School Basketball Plus Mavs And Stars Back Tonight In Today’s Sports Update

In Mt Vernon, the Prairiland Lady Patriots will play Harmony at 7:30. Harmony is the third-place team out of district 16.

At Chisum high school, it will be the Clarksville Lady Tigers and the Honey Grove Lady Warriors. The winner will take on Hawkins or Bland in the regional quarterfinal.

Also tonight, the North Lamar boys will have a play-in game with Pittsburg to determine the final playoff spot in the district. Both teams finished 1-7 with their one win coming at home against each other. That game is at 8:00 pm.

And, the Paris Wildcats will host Carthage in a warm-up game at 7:00 pm. Paris Bi-District matchup will be Tuesday night in Sulphur Springs. They will play Cumberland Academy and that Game will be on 101.9 KBUS.

In softball last night the Prairiland Lady Patriots defeated Paris High 14-0. Elizabeth Preston had a home run and three RBI, Bailey Kendall had our RBI while Mckenna Guest finished with a single and a home run.

North Lamar played two games yesterday at the Emory softball tournament. They defeated Texas High 10-0 on a combined one-hitter from Karsyn Iltis and Claire Stewart. Iltis also had four RBI in the game. In the second game, North Lamar lost to Rains 3-2 on a walk-off sacrifice fly.

The Mavs are finally back in action tonight as they visit Orlando. Dallas starts the post-All-Star break seventh in the Western Conference.

And the Blues are in Dallas to face the Stars. St. Louis is currently two points ahead of Dallas for first in the conference.

Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s track and field standout Dorian Andrews has been named the Under Armour Student-Athlete of the Week by Lion Athletics.

BASKETBALL WOMEN

The No. 3 Texas A&M University-Commerce women’s basketball team earned a 73-59 win over Eastern New Mexico at the Field House on Thursday. The Lions return to the court on Saturday as they host West Texas A&M in their final regular-season home game of the year. The game will be a part of Senior Day festivities and will begin at 2:00 pm.

BASKETBALL MEN

The Texas A&M University-Commerce men’s basketball team scored a 79-73 win over Eastern New Mexico on Thursday evening. The win brings the Lions to 16-9 on the season and 12-7 in the Lone Star Conference. The Lions return to the court on Saturday as they host No. 3 West Texas A&M in their final regular-season home game of the year. The game will be a part of Senior Day festivities and will begin at 4:00 pm at the Field House.

Coaches canceled Northeast’s softball games for Friday. Saturday’s games with Weatherford are still on for the 1:00 pm doubleheader.

Northeast’s Athletics, on Star 96.9 interviews this morning, includes Bryce Crow-Sophomore Outfielder from Mount Vernon and softball’s, Pearl Perry-Freshmen Outfielder/Utility player from Hughes Springs.

The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League canceled its emergency meeting scheduled for yesterday (Feb 20). The District 17-2A Executive Committee reversed its decision, as it determined Chilton High School did not violate UIL rules regarding the employment of coaches.

Mt Pleasant’s varsity softball canceled the JV game at Longview yesterday. The varsity team is at Grand Saline for a doubleheader at 12:00 and 2:00 pm.
