High School Hoops Plus Stars Lose in OT

Paris – The Paris Wildcats open the 2016-2017 season ranked 20th in class 4A, while the Clarksville Tigers are 2-0 and ranked 5th in class 2A. After back to back appearances at the regional tournament, the Wildcats open their season tonight at Wildcat gym against Kaufman. Tip off is at 7:30. Clarksville will host Pleasant Grove at 6:30. Chisum will host Hooks at Mustang Gym. North Lamar hosts Greenville and the Prairiland Patriots welcome in Detroit before hosting their annual tournament this weekend.

Mount Pleasant – The Mt. Pleasant Tiger basketball team is off to a solid start to the season. Ranked 22nd in the state, Mt. Pleasant has opened the season at 2-0. The Tigers will be back in action tonight when they host Idabel at Willie Williams Gym. Tip off on tonight is at 7:30. The Chapel Hill Red Devils are also on a tear to close out 2016, starting their hear 6-1 on the hardwood. Over the weekend, Chapel Hill notched a win over Bishop Gorman 52-34. The Red Devils and undefeated Lady Devils travel to White Oak tonight. Tip off is set for 7:30.

Sulphur Springs – The Sulphur Springs Wildcat basketball team is off to a solid start to their season at 3-0. The Wildcats varsity boys hoops team will make their way back to the court tonight at home against Denison before taking part in the Royse City tournament this weekend. The Sulphur Springs girls basketball team has won four straight and look to extend that winning streak when they participate this weekend in the Winnsboro Hoop fest. Mt. Vernon’s boys and girls have high expectations this season. The boys are at home against Quinlan Ford this evening while the Lady Tigers are 7-2 and will take on Paris.

Last night the Dallas Stars lose against in overtime, 4-3 to the St. Louis Blues. Jamie Oleksiak netted a pair of goals, while Jamie Benn picked up three points on the night, being involved in all three scores. It’s the Stars league leading 6th OT loss of the season, bringing them to 9-8-6 with 24 points on the season. Dallas will be back on the ice tonight in Detroit to take on the Red Wings. Puck drop is set for 6:30.

The Dallas Mavericks are back on the hardwood tomorrow night to take on the San Antonio Spurs at the American Airline Center. The Spurs are first in the Southwest standings at 14-3, while the Mavs are in cellar at 3-13. Tip off tomorrow between the Mavs and Spurs is set for 7:30.

And the Cowboys have a short turnaround after their Thanksgiving day victory over Washington 31-26. This Thursday they’ll be on the road in Minnesota against the Vikings. Kickoff [on 101.9 KBUS] is at 7:30.
