High School Hoops Plus Stars Shutout Vegas

Area high school hoops teams were in action last night while the football playoffs continue on Friday.
Paris – The Prairiland Patriots continue their hot start with a 46-36 win over the Detroit Eagles. Chisum wins a big game on the road over Hooks, 63-45, while the Paris Wildcats fall in overtime to Kaufman, 71-67. Friday night the Rivercrest Rebels and Commerce Tigers play round three in the football post-season. Rivercrest will visit Athens to take on Centerville. The game can be heard live on KOYN 93.9. Commerce goes to Wildcat Stadium in Emory to face Kemp. Both games kick off at 7:30.
MP – The Mt Pleasant Tigers notch a win over Idabel, Oklahoma, 66-49. Mt Pleasant basketball is 4-2 on the season. The Chapel Hill Red Devils are off to a solid start as well picking up a win over White Oak yesterday evening, 51-36, improving to 4-0. Friday night the Rivercrest Rebels, Commerce Tigers, and Gilmer Buckeyes play round three of the football post-season. Rivercrest goes to Athens to play Centerville. Commerce will be at Emory’s Wildcat stadium to face Kemp, while Gilmer travels to Mesquite’s Memorial Stadium to play Melissa. SS – The Sulphur Springs Wildcats continue living up to the hype in the early portion of the season with a win over Denison, 80-66. Last night the Dallas Stars shut out the Las Vegas Golden Knights, 3-0. Radek Faksa notched a hat trick for the Stars scoring all three goals in the 2nd period. Dallas collects their 27th points on the season with a 13-10-1 record. The Stars currently occupy a Wildcard spot in the Western Conference.
The Dallas Mavericks are back on the court tonight against the Brooklyn Nets. Dallas is 5-16 on the season, but have played better as of late. Tip-off is at 7:30.
The Dallas Cowboys have a quick turnaround as they prepare to kick off against Washington tomorrow. The ‘Boys have been in a landslide recently, losing their last three games by a combined score of 92-22. Kick off tomorrow is at 7:30.
And the College Football Playoff Rankings are out. Clemson moves into the top spot. Auburn shoots up to No. 2. Oklahoma is 3rd and unbeaten Wisconsin is 4th. The Alabama Crimson Tide is on the bubble at No. 5 followed by Georgia and Miami.
