High School Volleyball Playoffs Plus Cowboys Injury Report

Paris – High school volleyball playoffs began last night and will continue this evening for the bi-district round. Yesterday evening the Prairiland Lady Patriots saw their season come to an end at the hands of New Boston, three games to none. The Lady Patriots finish the season at 22-14. Tonight, on MIX 107.7, the North Lamar Panterette’s face off with Wills Point at 7:30 at Greenville High School. Prior to the match, the Paris Lady Cats will also be at Greenville against Mabank at 6. The Chisum Lady Mustangs play Hooks at Mt. Pleasant at 6 as well. And the Rivercrest Lady Rebels play North Hopkins at Paris high school at 7.

Mount Pleasant – High school volleyball playoffs began last night and will continue this evening with the bi-district round. Two local teams square off in round one as the Chapel Hill Lady Devils take on the Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas at Mt. Pleasant High School. Match time is at 8pm. The Rivercrest Lady Rebels make their playoff debut at Paris High. They’ll face off with North Hopkins at 7pm. The Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers collected a district title in 13-3A. They’ll face Queen City in the first round at Hughes Springs at 6:30. And last night the Pittsburg Lady Pirates season came to an end at the hands of Emory Rains.

Sulphur Springs – High school volleyball playoffs began last night and will continue this evening with the bi-district round. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats finished as the district runner up. They’ll meet with Forney tonight at Edgewood high school. The Lady Cats finished the regular season with a record of 30-10. Forney was 33-6. Match time tonight between Sulphur Springs and Forney at Edgewood is at 7pm. The North Hopkins Lady Panters will take on the Rivercrest Lady Rebels at Paris High at 7pm. And Last night to open the playoff action, the Emory Rains Lady Cats sweep the Pittsburg Lady Pirates, three games to none to advance to the area round.

The Dallas Cowboys were hit with the injury bug in Sunday’s 29-23 overtime win over the Eagles. Safety Barry Church and cornerback Morris Claiborne could be out for several weeks. Church suffered a fractures forearm, while Claiborne suffered a groin injury that could be a sports hernia. Orlando Scandrick along with rookie Anthony Brown are expected to fill in for Claiborne. J. J. Wilcox and Jeff Heath will take over for Church.

The Dallas Stars are back on the ice tonight against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Stars have struggled to start the season, with a 3-4-1 record and 7 points. They’ll turn to Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin to get back on the winning track. Puck drop tonight between Dallas and Columbus is set for 7pm.

And the World Series picks back up tonight in Cleveland for game 6 between the Indians and the Chicago Cubs. Cleveland leads the series three games to two. It’ll be Jake Arietta on the hill for Chicago. Cleveland counters with Josh Tomlin. First pitch this evening is at 7pm.
