High School Volleyball Plus Cowboys Lose Collins

Paris – Area high school volleyball teams pick back up tonight with district competition in full swing. The 18th ranked North Lamar Pantherette’s will host Liberty Eylau at Panther gym. The Prairiland Lady Patriots will host Mt. Vernon. The Chisum Lady Mustangs begin a four game district home stand when they host Como Pickton. The Paris Lady Cats will be on the road against Pittsburg and the Detroit Lady Eagles will be on the road at Maud.

Sulphu Springs – Area high school volleyball teams pick back up tonight with district competition in full swing. In an I-30 rivalry, the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats hit the road to take on the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers. The Como-Pickton Lady Eagles will be on the road to face off with the Chisum Lady Mustangs. And the Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers will travel to Pattonville to play Prairiland. And a correction from yesterday morning’s report, the Mt. Vernon Tiger football team defeated Grand Saline 51-20.

Mount Pleasant – Area high school volleyball teams pick back up tonight with district competition in full swing. In an I-30 rivalry, the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers host the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats at Willie Williams gym. The Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas host Redwater and the Mt. Vernon Tigers Lady Tigers travel to Lamar County to face off with the Prairiland Lady Patriots.

Last night the Texas Rangers fall to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-3. Carlos Gomez and Elvis Andrus each had three hits for Texas, but with Boston having the night off, the Rangers fall half a game back of the Red Sox for the best record in the American League and home field advantage in the post season. Texas and Milwaukee play game two of three tonight at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch is at 7:05.

The pre-season puck dropped last night for the Dallas Stars in 3-1 win over the St. Louis Blues. Patrik Nemeth, Patrick Eaves and Jiri Hudler scored the goals for the Stars in the victory. Dallas returns to the ice to tune up against the Colorado Avalanche tomorrow night. The regular season begins October 13th against Anaheim.

Dallas Cowboys 2nd year guard, La’el Collins, will miss several weeks after suffering a toe injury in Sunday night’s win over the Bears. Ronald Leary, who lost his job to Collins last year after being sidelined with an injury, will take over at left guard.

And former Dallas Cowboy defensive end, Greg Hardy, was arrested yesterday morning for possession of a controlled substance. Hardy, who is a free agent, was found with baggies of cocaine in his wallet.
