Paris – The post season is right around the corner for Red River Valley volleyball teams. Tonight in district play the Prairiland Lady Patriots and Chisum Lady Mustangs are in a Lamar County showdown with playoff positioning on the line. Match time at Patriot Gym is at 7pm. The 15th ranked North Lamar Pantherette’s hosts Atlanta while The Paris Lady Cats host Pleasant Grove at 4:30. And the Detroit Lady Eagles are 33-1 on the season. They’ll be on the road to face Sulphur Bluff.
Mount Pleasant – The post season is right around the corner for area high school volleyball teams. The Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers will be at home at Willie Williams Gym against the Hallsville Lady Cats. The Chapel Hill Lady Devils look to stay on the play off path when they host Como Pickton. The Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas are still in the mix for a district title. They’ll travel to Hooks this evening. Daingerfield is at Queen City and Pittsburg will host Liberty Eylau. Mt. Vernon volleyball is off tonight.
Sulphur Springs – The post season is right around the corner for area high school volleyball teams. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats are on pace for a playoff birth. They’ll be at home tonight against the Pine Tree Lady Pirates. North Hopkins will be at home to square off with Yantis. Miller Grove is looking to capture a district title, they’ll face Cumby at home. The Commerce Lady Tigers will be at home against Farmersville and the Rains Lady Cats look to continue their dominance on the road against Wills Point. Mt. Vernon volleyball is off tonight.
October baseball continued last night with the Cleveland Indians beating the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 and take a commanding 3-0 lead in the American League Championship Series. Cleveland can sweep the ALCS and punch their ticket to the World Series this afternoon at 3pm. Tied at one game apiece, game three of the NLCS between the Chicago Cubs and LA Dodgers will follow at 7.
In the NHL, the Dallas Stars travel to Tennessee to play the Nashville Predators. The Stars are 1-1-0 with 2 points in the young season. Nashville sports the same record. Puck drop this evening at Bridgestone Arena is set for 7pm.
And an injury update on the Dallas Cowboys, following their 30-16 win over Green Bay. Defensive Back, Mo Claiborne, suffered a concussion, but is expected to recover following the bye week. Defensive End DeMarcus Lawrence had an MRI on his shoulder. Lawrence, along with Dez Bryant and Orlando Scandrick are expected to return against Philadelphia.
