High School Volleyball Plus World Series Starts Tonight

Paris – It’s the final night of the regular season in high school volleyball. The 14th ranked North Lamar Pantherette’s have at least a share of the district title, but a win tonight at Panther gym over 22nd ranked Pleasant Grove would give them the crown outright. Match time tonight is 6pm. The Paris Lady Cats are in the post season, they’ll wrap up district play on the road against Liberty Eylau and the post-seaso bound Prairiland Lady Patriots will take on Como Pickton. The bi-district round begins Monday.

Mount Pleasant – It’s the final night of the regular season in high school volleyball. The Mt. Vernon Lady Tigers are district champs, while the Chapel Hill Lady Devils are playoff bound as well. They’ll finish district play squaring off in Mt. Vernon. The Paul Pewitt Lady Brahmas find themselves in the post season as they play their final district game against Daingerfield. And the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers wrap up the season on the road against the Pine Tree Lady Pirates. Playoffs begin with the Bi-district round on Monday.

Sulphur Springs – It’s the final night of the regular season in high school volleyball. The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats wrap up district play as they hit the road to face the Marshall Lady Mavericks. District champion Miller Grove will be at home against Yantis. Mt. Vernon also earned a district crown. They’ll take on Chapel Hill at home and another district winner, Emory Rains will be at home against Van.

After a big win over Angelo State 62-14, the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions continue to move up in the Division 2 polls. Now ranked 8th in the nation, A&M-Commerce is 7-1and host West Texas A&M Saturday at 4pm for homecoming.

The World Series is set between the Chicago Cubs and the Cleveland Indians. Despite a season best 103 wins, the Cubbies will visit Cleveland for games 1 & 2. The Cubs, with Jon Lester on the mound, have gone 108 years since their last World Series title. The Cleveland Indians haven’t won since 1948 and will call on Corey Kluber. Game one is tonight at 7pm.

The Dallas Mavericks tip off the start to their season on Wednesday when they visit the Indiana Pacers. The Mavs, led by Dirk, Deron Williams, have added a number of new pieces, including former Golden State Warriors Andrew Bogut and Harrison Barns, brother of Steph Curry, Seth Curry and rookie out of Purdue A.J. Hammond. Tip off tomorrow night is at 6pm.

And last night Miami Dolphin and long time Houston Texans running back, Arian Foster announced his retirement after 8 season in the NFL.
