A police officer was shot in Honey Grove late Tuesday night when police and deputies responded to a domestic violence call. Honey Grove Police say a man met them armed with a rifle that fired on the officers and shot one Honey Grove Policeman in the leg. They flew him to a trauma center now listed him in stable condition. The suspect returned to inside the residence, and a standoff ensued. Witnesses said they heard multiple shots, and officers entered the home early this morning and found the suspect dead, apparently from a self–inflicted gunshot wound. They have not identified the suspect nor the injured police officer. The investigation by Texas Rangers is continuing.
