Hopkins County Deputies stopped 40-year-old Amber Diane Landers on Church Street in Sulphur Springs for a defective tail light. She declined to consent to search her vehicle, but a K9 alerted, and then Landers admitted there were narcotics inside. Deputies seized three baggies containing methamphetamine weighing just over five grams and arrested Landers.

Hopkins County Deputies conducted a traffic stop at the 120-mile marker of I-30 and made contact with Francisco Valentin Sanchez of Maryland. A computer search revealed that Baltimore County wanted Sanchez for strong-arm rape. He’s in the Hopkins County Jail for Maryland authorities.

Fire destroyed a home in the 100-block of Jonas Street in Sulphur Springs Christmas afternoon. There was no word on any injuries, and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.

Deputies arrested 27-year-old Morgan Lane Brown of Sulphur Springs at a residence on County Road 4769 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and cruelty to non-livestock animals charges. They released him from jail after he posted a $35,000 bond on each.

Hopkins County Deputies transported a Tennessee man to the Hopkins County Jail on an outstanding Hopkins County warrant. They charged 32-year-old Joseph Andrew Carpenter with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

At the Probation Office, Hopkins County arrested 40-year-old Julia Monica Gutierrez and transported her to the county jail on three outstanding warrants. In addition, they billed her with violation of her probation on a burglary conviction, fraudulent use or possession of information belonging to an older adult, and burglary of a habitation. The bond is $150,000 per charge.
