Lamar-Red River Crimestoppers Closing

After over 30 years of helping to solve crimes, the Lamar & Red River County Crime Stoppers board voted to cease operations. The commission issued a statement saying the primary purpose is to help prevent and solve crime through the tips program by paying rewards. If they cannot fulfill the goals, it is time to let supporters give their time and money to support the community in other ways. Former Executive Director William “Buddy” Heuberger said the board voted to close over his objections and said, “There were other options other than closing. Still, the board did not see fit to exercise those options.”
