North Lamar ISD Names Interim Superintendent

Kelli Stewart shifts from the middle school principal to lead North Lamar

After a long day of interviews and deliberations on Tuesday, the North Lamar Board of Trustees announced Kelli Stewart as the school district’s interim superintendent.  She will follow Dr. Jason Adams who was hired as the district’s superintendent in February 2018 and began his position on March 5, 2018.

Stewart has been employed with North Lamar ISD for 17 years as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal and most recently as principal of Stone Middle School.

Stewart will be working closely with Adams until his departure from North Lamar on Friday.

In an email to staff on Wednesday, Adams said, “Kelli and I will work together the next few days, and I know that she’ll do a great job for the Panther Family.” Adams will begin his new role as superintendent of Fairfield ISD on Monday.

In a statement released by Stewart, she said, “The North Lamar Board of Trustees designated me to act as interim superintendent.  I consider it an honor to lead and support the district that I love.  I have worked in this district for 17 years and have three children who attend North Lamar.

I pledge to work cooperatively with the school board to ensure that the responsibilities of the board and superintendent are carried out in a harmonious manner.

I am very student-oriented and will make decisions that are in the best interest of our students.  I feel that academic performance and student safety are priorities.  We have great teachers, administrators, and staff members on all campuses and I pledge to provide support to them as they work with our students.

Community relations are important and I will work to keep the community abreast of district information.”

President Stephen ‘Red’ Holmes said of the board’s selection, “The Board is proud to support a veteran North Lamar ISD employee.”
