President To Challenge Some State Bans On Masking Mandates

President Biden is directing his Education Secretary to explore possible legal action against states that have chosen to block school mask mandates. The Education Department is also considering using its civil rights arm to fight policies in Republican-led states like Texas, where mask mandates are off-limits under the governor’s executive order. Mark Wiggins with the American Federation of Teachers in Texas says they support the move here as a way to force the state’s hand.
