Rangers Drop Game One Plus Friday Night Lights

Paris – High school football returns in the Red River Valley tonight. Our KOYN 93.9 Game of the Week will feature the Cooper Bulldogs on homecoming welcoming in the Chisum Mustangs. Both teams are looking for their second win in district 6-3A Division 2. The Paris Wildcats and North Lamar Panthers begin district play in 7-4A Division 1. Paris will host Liberty Eylau on 101.9 KBUS while North Lamar visits Anna on MIX 107.7. Prairiland will host Gunter. Unbeaten Rivercrest is on the road at Quinlan Boles. Detroit welcomes Clarksville and Honey Grove hosts Linden Kildare.

Mount Pleasant – Area high school football returns to action tonight. The Mt. Pleasant Tigers look to build off their first district victory last week when they hit the road to face the Marshall Mavericks. The game can be heard live on KLAKE 97.7 with kick off scheduled for 7:30. The Mt. Vernon Tigers and Winnsboro Red Raiders clash in the Star Country Game of the Week tonight. The Purple Tigers are 2-0 while Winnsboro has an even record of 1-1 in district 7-3A Division 1. The Pittsburg Pirates host Atlanta while Gilmer visits Pleasant Grove in 7-4A Division 2. Daingerfield is on the road at DeKalb in 7-3A Division 1 and Rivercrest is at Quinlan Boles in 9-2A Division 1.

Sulphur Springs – Area high school football returns to action tonight. The Sulphur Springs Wildcats look to get on the playoff path in district 16-5A when they visit the 8th ranked Texas High Tigers in Texarkana. The game can be heard live on Star Country 95.9. Kickoff is at 7:30. The Mt. Vernon Tigers host a rivalry game against the Winnsboro Red Raiders tonight. The Cooper Bulldogs celebrate homecoming at Bulldog Stadium against the Chisum Mustangs and Cumby looks to remain unbeaten on the season as they begin district 9-2A Division 2 at home against Maud. All games this evening kick off at 7:30.

The 2016 post season is off to a rocky start for the Texas Rangers after they fall to Toronto 10-1. But what the hey. Shin-Soo Choo drove in Elvis with an RBI ground out for the lone Ranger run. The Blue Jays go up 1-0 in the best of five series. Game two is this afternoon at Globe Life Park in Arlington. First pitch [on KPLT 1490am and 96.3fm] is set for noon.

On Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys welcome the Cincinnati Bengals to AT&T Stadium. The Cowboys are 3-1 on the season and in 2nd place in the NFC East while the Bengals are 2-2. After missing two games apiece, Dallas is hoping to have Left Tackle Tyron Smith and cornerback Orlando Scandrick. The Cowboys also get defensive end, DeMarcus Lawrence back from suspension. Kick off on Sunday between Dallas and Cincinnati [on 101.9 KBUS] is set for 3:25.
