Rangers Win Orioles Series In Today’s Sports Update

Texas A&M University-Commerce head men’s basketball coach, Jaret von Rosenberg, has announced the addition of Ted Rawlings and Jovan Austin as assistant coaches to the Lion staff. Rawlings and Austin join third-year assistant coach Coleman Furst on the staff as the Lions prepare for 2019-2020, which will be the third under von Rosenberg’s leadership.

The Frisco RoughRiders fell 5-2 in Thursday’s series opener at Midland. Frisco fell behind 3-0 after three innings and didn’t score until a sacrifice fly from Brendon Davis in the fifth. Preston Beck (2-for-3, 2B, BB) and Michael De Leon (1-for-2, 2 BB) each reached base three times in Thursday’s loss. Game two of that series is tonight at 7:00 pm.

More controversy in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Blues player Tyler Bozak tripped Noel Acciari right in front of a referee which went uncalled. With Acciari on the ice, St. Louis scores their second goal of the game. They would win 2-1. St. Louis has a chance to win the cup at home. The Blues now lead the series 3-2. Game 6 is Sunday night.

And the Rangers won 4-3 against Baltimore Thursday night. Texas welcomes Oakland to Arlington on 1490 AM and 96.3 FM KPLT. Pregame tonight is at 6:30 with the first pitch at 7:05.

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a deal with free-agent left-hander Dallas Keuchel. The veteran starter will receive a one-year deal that will pay him $13 million, which is prorated from a figure of $21.21 million, sources said, confirming a Yahoo report.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed franchise quarterback Carson Wentz to a four-year extension through the 2024 season, the team announced Thursday. The extension is for $128 million and includes $107.9 million guaranteed, including $66 million due at signing. The extension can escalate to a max of $144 million. Wentz’s total deal is now six years for $154 million and can grow to a max of $170 million.

Veteran wide receiver Jermaine Kearse has signed with the Detroit Lions, where he will reunite with offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, the team announced Thursday. Terms were not announced, but a source says that the one-year deal is for $1.35 million, with $350,000 guaranteed, and has a max value of $2.3 million. He made $5 million last season in the final year of his contract with the New York Jets.

New England Patriots long-snapper Joe Cardona, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, was promoted to the rank of lieutenant in the Navy on Thursday morning in an event at Gillette Stadium. The event took place on the 75th anniversary of D-Day. Cardona was promoted from lieutenant junior grade. The 27-year-old Cardona, selected by the Patriots in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL draft, has never missed a game in his career, joining Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach as the only graduates of the Naval Academy to win multiple Super Bowls.
