Riders Ride Arms Plus Baseball Signups This Weekend In Today’s Sports Update

Attention Chisum Mustang fans. How would you like to win a pair of football tickets to see the Mustangs this year? All you have to do is visit RRV Sports on Facebook for the details.

Paris Optimist Fall Baseball Registration will continue tomorrow, Saturday August 10th from 10am till 1pm at the Charles Taylor Complex at Woodall. Registration fees are $45 for 5–6 years old and $55 for 7–14 year olds. League age is as of April 30th 2020. Girls are invited to play baseball and players from other communities are invited as well.

For the sixth consecutive year the Dallas Cowboys will begin the season with a player suspended. This time it’s Defensive End Robert Quinn, who was suspended two games for violating the leagues substance abuse program. Quinn’s attorney says the substance is a medication to help with seizures and gout. This medication can also be used to help mask the use of steroids, which is why it’s on the banned list. Quinn had surgery Tuesday to repair a fracture in his hand. Dallas will play their first preseason game tomorrow night at San Francisco.

Five pitchers combined to toss a two-hit gem Thursday, as the Riders topped Amarillo 3–1. The five arms – Richelson Pena, Luke Farrell, CD Pelham, Blake Bass and Jake Lemoine – yielded just two hits and a walk to knock off the first-place Sod Poodles. Pelham was one of the highlights for the staff, striking out the side in order during the fifth inning. Rehabber Luke Farrell also turned in a scoreless outing in his second appearance with the Riders. Frisco broke through in a scoreless tie with a three-run sixth, started by a sacrifice fly from Leody Taveras and two run-scoring wild pitches.

And the Rangers are in Milwaukee tonight to begin a weekend series on 1490am and 96.3fm KPLT. Pregame at 6:30. First pitch at 7:05.
