The Texas A&M-Commerce Lion football team will play for the NCAA Division II National Championship on Saturday against West Florida. The Commerce Lions defeated Harding in the Semi-Finals 31-17 to advance to the title game. West Florida beat top-seeded Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Texas A&M Commerce enters the contest with a 12-1 record on the season and will be lead by Quarterback Luis Perez, who last week was selected as Regional Offensive Player of the Year. Kick off on Saturday between Texas A&M Commerce and West Florida for the Division II National Championship is 6:00 pm in Kansas City, Kansas.
The Dallas Stars are beginning to pick up their play on the road beating the New York Islanders, 5-2. Jamie Benn leads the way with three points on a goal and two assists. Tyler Pitlick found the net twice for the Stars who now have 37 points on the season. Dallas will stay in the northeast tomorrow night when they visit the New Jersey Devils.
The Dallas Mavericks, meanwhile, will be on the west coast tonight to take on the Golden State Warriors. Dallas is a lowly 8-20 on the season, but are coming off their biggest win of the season over the Spurs on Tuesday night. Tip-off tonight between the Mavs and Warriors is 9:30.
And former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned tv color analyst, Tony Romo, has been named Sports Illustrated Media Person of the Year for 2017. S-I referenced Romo’s knowledge of the game along with his natural enthusiasm as reasons for his selection. Romo was a four-time pro bowler with the Cowboys before retiring this past April and joining the top broadcasting crew with CBS.
