Forney canceled the football game Friday with Sulphur Springs. The Wildcats are looking for a replacement while the 9th-grade and junior varsity will play as scheduled. Sulphur Springs’ district wrapped up last week with Ennis as No. 1 after beating North Forney. The district games have no meaning as they finish out the season. Ennis will be at Greenville, Royce City takes on North Forney, and Crandall goes up against Corsicana.
The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday and handed down decisions on student-athletes’ eligibility and issue penalties for UIL rules violations. Campbell High School head football coach Jason Crow and Granbury Acton Middle School football coach Shawn Pope were denied appeals of an ejection from a contest and were issued the automatic penalty of a public reprimand, one-year probation, and additional training.
