The Center for Reproductive Rights has filed a lawsuit against Texas on behalf of five Texas women and two doctors. The suit alleges the women were denied abortions despite grave risks to their lives or fetuses. In addition, the lawsuit claims Texas denied the woman necessary and potentially life-saving obstetrical care because medical professionals throughout Texas fear liability under Texas’s abortion bans. The penalty is 99 years in prison.
