Friday Football Recap Plus Cowboys Get Big Win

The Texas High School Football season wraps up week ten while playoff volleyball continues.
Paris – Prairiland, North Lamar, and Rivercrest see their volleyball seasons come to an end in the area round. The Lady Patriots fall in straight sets to top-ranked Beckville. North Lamar drops three sets to Rusk and Rivercrest is upset by Timpson.
On the football field the North Lamar Panthers blast Quinlan Ford, 49-30. Paris shuts out Anna for the second straight year, 25-0. Rivercrest stays undefeated after a 52-8 win over James Bowie. Cooper throttles Whitewright, 40-13 and Honey Grove notches a win over Boles, 47-29. Prairiland falls to Sadler Southmade, 49-16. Chisum loses to Leonard, 38-14. Detroit goes down to Cumby, 30-6 and the Clarksville Tigers are edged out by Dallas Gateway, 25-20.
Mount Pleasant – The Mt Vernon Lady Tigers will be back in action tonight for the Regional Quarterfinal round against New Diana. The match will be played at Spring Hill High School at 6:30. Meanwhile, the Rivercrest Lady Rebels see their season come to an end at the hands of Timpson.
On the football field, the Rivercrest Rebels stay undefeated on the season with a dominant, 52-8 win over James Bowie. The Pittsburg Pirates come from behind to beat Gladewater, 28-21. Mt Vernon wins another beating Farmersville, 42-26. Gilmer outlasts Atlanta, 45-30. Paul Pewitt pulls away in the second half over Queen City, 55-22. Hughes Springs edges out Redwater, 55-50, while Daingerfield comes up short against New Diana, 24-21.
Sulphur Springs – The Mt Vernon Lady Tigers will be back in action tonight for the Regional Quarterfinal round against New Diana. The match will be played at Spring Hill High School at 6:30. Sulphur Bluff will be up against Fruitvale tonight at Cumby at 6:00 and Miller Grove takes on Leveretts in the Regional Quarterfinal round. Meanwhile, the Rivercrest Lady Rebels, Yantis Lady Owls, and Cumby Lady Trojans see their seasons come to an end in the Area round. On the football field, the Sulphur Springs Wildcats beat rivaling Greenville, 21-7. The Cooper Bulldogs crush Whitewright, 40-13. Cumby pulls away from Detroit, 30-6. Como-Pickton outlasts Lone Oak, 28-21. Mt Vernon stays unbeaten with a win over Farmersville, 42-26. Commerce edges out Mineola, 27-21 while Emory Rains is crushed by Canton, 70-1.
The Dallas Cowboys win a key game against the Kansas City Chiefs, 28-17. Quarterback, Dak Prescott, totaled over 275 yards and three touchdowns while rookie first-round draft selection, Taco Charlton, collected his first sack of the season. The Cowboys improve to 5-3 on the season and take on Atlanta this weekend.
The Dallas Mavericks fall to the Minnesota Timberwolves over the weekend, 112-99, dropping the Mavs to 1-10 on the season. The Stars beat up on Buffalo, 5-1. The Stars netted four goals in the first period alone on their way to improving to 16 points on the season.
And in College Football the top four consisting of No. 1 Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Clemson pick up wins while the Oklahoma Sooners win the Bedlam Battle over Oklahoma State, 62-52. Eight ranked TCU also stays in the playoff running with a 24-7 win over Texas.
