Three-quarters of Americans say they are worried about natural disasters, terror attacks, or serious accidents affecting their communities, but many of them also say they aren’t adequately prepared for these calamities, according to new data from YouGov. A poll of an undisclosed number of U.S. adults reveals:
– 75% say they are worried about natural disasters, terror attacks, or serious accidents affecting their communities; here are the specific issues they are most worried about:
- 33% a tornado
- 27% a flood
- 26% a hurricane
- 21% a terror attack
- 20% serious accident
- 18% earthquake
- 18% wildfire
- 4% tsunami
- 4% volcanic eruption
- 25% none of these
– 41% say they’re not prepared for a natural disaster
– 51% say they are prepared
– 32% say they’re prepared for a terror attack
– 46% of men said they’d be “very prepared” for a natural disaster compared to just 38% of women
