The Houston Texans had second thoughts on their decision to hire Coach Bill O’Brien. With an 0-4 start, they were going the wrong way from a championship. Monday, they fired him. Walking papers came a day after Sunday’s 31-23 loss to the Vikings dropped the Texans to 0-4 for the first time since 2008.

They didn’t fire Darren Waller and several Las Vegas Raiders teammates, but they did fine Waller $30,000 and docked teammates $15,000 each after attending his charity event that violated COVID-19 protocols. It was a fundraiser for his foundation.

Houston doubled up on the Oakland As Monday 10-5 in Game 1 of their Division Series. They pair up again this afternoon at 3:37 for Game 2.

Former Kilgore College basketball coach Scotti Wood was the Lady Rangers basketball coach from 1998-2003 and the second coach in its history. She died over the weekend.

Stephen F. Austin and Angelo State decided to play their game this weekend on October 17 in Nacogdoches. It would have been the second home game for the season for the Jacks. It is a COVID issue with Angelo State. SFA won their first home game of the season this past Saturday when they defeated West Texas A&M 34-6.

Texas A&M University-Commerce cross country student-athlete Nicodemus Rotich is the Lone Star Conference Runner and Freshman of the Week for the second straight week after his performance at the East Texas Shootout on Friday.
