Noted Economist On Winter Storm Hearings

An energy economist thinks the legislative hearings’ ultimate result into last week’s winter storms will be a call to winterize the power grid. Bud Weinstein says Ercot is in the crosshairs of lawmakers because it runs the grid. But he doesn’t fault Ercot entirely. Weinstein says winterizing the power plants could cost upwards of $10 billion, a cost he says they will likely pass along to power customers.
