Governor’s Power Could Be Limited During Disasters

The Texas House passed legislation that would take powers away from the governor during a pandemic. It would create a legislative oversight committee that could strike down any order or waiver by the governor after 30 days.  Some Republicans say it didn’t go far enough. Some Democrats saw it as a shot against local pandemic control.
